The Senior Strategy Analyst will play an integral role in supporting key strategic priorities for the Holtzbrinck Group focusing on science and technology. It is a great opportunity to gain deep insight into the publishing industry.

Your responsibilties

  • Market Monitoring - Track, analyze, synthesize and report on general marketplace trends, competitive developments, emerging companies, new opportunities and threats to our businesses. Creation of a regular market update for the executive management team, development of deep dive case studies and coordinating the collection of intel / data from the team.
  • M&A Support - Help to identify and screen potential investment / acquisition opportunities and conduct analysis and diligence on specific investment / acquisition opportunities and support completion of transactions and integration of the assets into the portfolio. 
  • Strategic Support - Provide support for corporate, division, unit level strategic / business planning. Creation of discussion documents for planning sessions / workshops, and support in documenting strategic plans.
  • Business Development - Support evaluation and implementation of strategic partnerships and exploration and experimentation with innovative new business models and growth initiatives. Modelling potential new business opportunities and scenarios, development of business cases / plans, and tracking progress of new business initiatives being executed.

Your profile

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as an analyst in a management consultancy, investment bank or corporate development department for large company (preferably STM).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or other related field or equivalent work experience. Degree in science or science related field is heavily preferred.
  • Strong quantitative background (ideally actual experience constructing financial / business / market models) and ability to quickly analyze large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Strong analytical acumen, strong qualitative and quantitative research skills and the ability to structure and present complex problems in simple, easy-to-understand ways.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to new environments and work spaces. Travel will range from 0 - 50% depending upon the project.
  • Power user in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications and comfortable utilizing databases (or large unstructured datasets).
  • Experience in publishing, STM publishing, or scientific digital technology, is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, client centric orientation, team player.
